Senior Editor

Location: New York

The Senior Editor is responsible for assigning, editing, and shaping stories for Lucky Peach’s magazine and website. He/she reports to the Managing Editor and is based in New York City.

Responsibilities:

– Assigns and edits long- and short- form features for the magazine and luckypeach.com
– Writes features for the magazine and luckypeach.com
– Pitches features and recipe packages for luckypeach.com and the magazine; brainstorms and collaborates on ideas with the editorial team
– Communicates with and solicits writers, responds to pitches
– Identifies and cultivates relationships with new contributors
– Works with the Managing Editor and Web Editor to ensure all assignments are completed in time and are ferried through standardized editorial processes
– Becomes well versed in the production cycle, offering thoughts on improvement, and taking on new duties wherever possible

Skills & Requirements:

– 4–7 years editorial experience
– Ability to assign, shape, and edit stories to Lucky Peach editorial standards
– Enjoys working with writers; feels invested in contributor and staff development
– Strong cooking skills, a plus. Familiarity with using recipes and how they should read, a necessity.
– Extreme attention to detail
– An excellent command of grammar, proper attribution, headline writing, and all manner of journalistic minutiae
– Strong independent work ethic and desire to take jobs to completion
– Ability to collaborate and convey and accept feedback; willingness to take initiative
– Exceptional organizational, presentation, and communications skills, verbal and written

Sales & Marketing Coordinator

Location: New York

The Sales & Marketing Coordinator provides support in all aspects of advertising sales, marketing, and events for Lucky Peach. Responsible for supporting the business team, he/she will get their hands dirty with projects and initiatives large and small and become intimate with the workings of a growing media company. He/she reports to the Account Executive and Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities:

– Prepares proposals and decks for sales and partnerships; coordinates between the business team and art team as needed
– Works with Marketing Manager to plan and execute profitable, high-margin events
– Works with Account Executive on back-end campaign logistics, client management, and other sales-related tasks
– Prepares marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales data
– Works with Marketing Manager and digital teams to roll out promotional campaigns across the Lucky Peach brand
– Chips in with administrative tasks across the business team
– Demonstrates initiative in taking on new projects and challenges; works with the whole business team to help achieve company goals

Skills & Requirements:

– 1–2 years of event experience or experience within a media or advertising agency organization preferred.
– Experience in MS Office Suite is mandatory.
– Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is strongly preferred.
– A team player and self-starter with extreme attention to detail
– Finds joy in all types of detail-oriented and organizational tasks; takes initiative whenever appropriate and necessary
– A deep interest in the business of media; is excited by the prospect of helping to grow a modern-day media company
– Cheerful under pressure; thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment
