Shrimp and Grits: Stronger Together

There's only one choice in this election.

This is the final post in Lauren Garfinkel’s series “Edible Trump,” which has chronicled Donald Trump’s run in salmon, candy, and more

We are at a crossroads. This has been the funkiest mess of an election season, and what it’s come down to is this: a path to the future or to the way, way past. I’m not an alarmist, but are your panic rooms ready?

If you care about abortion rights, criminal justice reform, tax fairness, clean water, the Supreme Court, and/or pretty much any part of our whole fucking democracy, then there is only one option in this election: Hillary Clinton.

Treaties and alliances matter. Freedom of the press matters. Playing coy with white supremacy matters. If Trump wins and steps down (because it’s not like he really wants the job), then it’s a Pence presidency. Remember Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act? It could be ours!

Now, Hillary Clinton is not without controversy. But she is tough and smart and has decades of experience. Clinton has been endorsed by 186 daily newspapers. The Arizona Republic made its first-ever endorsement for a Democratic nominee for president. One hundred ten retired military leaders are behind Clinton. In July, Bernie Sanders said, “Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president and I am proud to stand with her here today.” On November 1st, Libertarian vice presidential candidate William Weld called her “a person of high moral character, a reliable person and an honest person.”

If they can trust her, so can we.
